About ISR Lessons

Infants 6-12 months learn survival floating.  Babies first learn breath control and are then taught correct floating postures, and the skills to remain floating for varied periods of time, from varied positions in the water.

Children 12 months to 6 years learn to swim- float- swim.  Your child will learn breath control and how to turn around in the water to secure the edge.  He will then learn to swim through the water, rollback-to-float, and how to flip over to swim again...this sequence can be repeated until safety is reached.

SELF-RESCUE™
You want your child to enjoy all the fun that life has to offer, while ensuring those activities do not compromise his safety or well-being. You know that for your child's safety, higher risk activities such as playing around the water or near a busy street must be approached with utmost caution, and with a protective introduction to the activity . When it comes to water-safety and skills, ISR is the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and toddlers between 6 months and 6 years old. As the only swimming program based in the behavioral sciences, and the only method of it's kind, ISR goes beyond traditional swimming instruction, teaching children ISR's Self-Rescue techniques to survive in the water. Students will learn how to use Infant Swimming Resource's Self-Rescue skills in conjunction with basic swimming skills.

TECHNIQUE & LESSONS
ISR’s hands-on instruction technique has been thoroughly researched to offer a proven system for safely teaching your child to enjoy the fun of swimming, while at the same time teaching life-saving skills. Unlike other programs, lessons are:

  • Customized and taught one-on-one by a certified ISR instructor
  • Last for 10 minutes, Monday through Friday, for 4 to 6 weeks
  • Emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations, and parent education
  • Provide your child with the competence and confidence to safely enjoy the water

Every child learns at his or her own pace. It is for that reason that each ISR lesson is individualized and customized to your child and her needs. To ensure the safest and most effective lesson possible, the Instructor's attention will be focused solely on your child during each 10-minute lesson, with only your child and the Instructor in the water.  ISR does not offer group lessons.  We do not throw children in the water, and every child is always accompanied by their Instructor for the duration of the lesson.
